Exam resources
If you are a prospective writer from another province, we recommend that you consult the resources offered by
your host province. There isn't one best way to prepare for the Entrance Exam – your approach to
studying should be based on your own knowledge of your learning style and your comfort with the material to
be examined. CMA Alberta has identified four general characteristics that will contribute to exam
success:
1. Mastering the material
CMA Canada has created two documents, the 2011
Entrance Exam requirements document and the 2011
Entrance Exam required topics document, to prepare you with adequate knowledge of the various
subjects to be examined. Consult these documents in detail as you study, as they give you both a
specific indication of the subjects that can be tested on the exam, as well as the level of knowledge you
will need to be successful.
2. Knowing yourself and how to focus
Exams can be stressful. Being able to master these emotions and focus on your studies is another
element of your potential for success. As you study, you will need to plan for time that allows you to focus
on the materials. If you have a busy work, social, or family life, this means you may have to be very
pro-active in addressing your need for preparation time with those around you. Having a realistic study plan
–and sticking to it– is part of the exam preparation process.
