CMA Fundamentals Program
Program Introduction
The CMA Fundamentals Program provides students with an alternative to obtaining the CMA Accelerated Program prerequisites through a post-secondary
institution. As such, credits obtained through the Fundamentals Program are not transferable to
post-secondary institutions.
The program consists of four online courses:
Introductory Financial Accounting
An integrated introduction to accounting principles and practices, this course is designed to help students
understand and communicate accounting information. The course will also help students gain an
appreciation for the uses of accounting information and the limitations inherent in accounting.
Prerequisites: Proficiency in English and a university degree or equivalent.
Introductory Management Accounting
This course examines how accounting information is used within organizations to plan, monitor and control.
The purpose of this course is to ensure students have a basic understanding of how management accounting
systems operate, the language they use and their limitations.
Prerequisites: Proficiency in English and a university degree or equivalent.
Economics (Micro and Macro)
This course explores the cost/benefit analysis of all decisions (micro) and the performance of
market economies (macro). Students can take the courses separately ($400 & GST) or as one full course
($525 & GST) but note that there are separate exams and quizzes for both microeconomics and
macroeconomics. If students choose to take the full course, all quizzes and finals must be completed within
six months of registration.
Prerequisites: Proficiency in English and a university degree or equivalent.
Statistics
This course focuses on developing statistical thinking to improve the student's ability to assess
data. Statistics offers updated exercises drawn from real business scenarios and recent world economic
events.
Prerequisites: Proficiency in English and a university degree or equivalent.
Note: courses do not need to be taken simultaneously.
