PE GAAP one-day workshop
Private Enterprises are facing a crossroads. Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is
disappearing and will be replaced by International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), also known as
Private Enterprise GAAP (PE GAAP). Public companies have no choice in the matter – they will be converting to
IFRS. However, private companies, regardless of their size or scope, have a choice between Private Enterprise
GAAP and IFRS. How should they decide and what are their timelines? Should they make a permanent choice in
2011, or should they make a temporary choice and then convert fully in the future to their selected
option?
This one-day workshop will review the basics of PE GAAP. Specifically, the session will cover the
following:
- Recent developments and changes to Canadian financial reporting
- New structure for the CICA Handbook
- Canada’s reaction to the international IFRS for SMEs
- Overview of the differences between Private Enterprise GAAP and current GAAP
- Some deciding factors for private enterprises
- Where to get more information on PE GAAP
