Workshop details:
Breakfast session: Savvy networking
7:30 a.m. – 8:45 a.m.
Description:
The ability to communicate and network effectively can boost your profile and engender strong
business alliances and connections for mutual benefit. This session will provide you with some simple
strategies to quickly build rapport with others, start small talk, take it to big talk and enter and exit
conversations with finesse. These conversation skills will increase your confidence, charisma and
business/social success.
Facilitator: Terry Pithers
Terry is a partner in the image and etiquette consulting firm Style for Success. They help organizations and
their people project a confident, professional image to meet client expectations and build stronger and more
profitable internal/external relationships. Terry has helped a wide range of audiences gain confidence in
their business and personal interactions and engender a more positive attitude to work and life.
Workshop #1: Enterprise Risk Management for Competitive
Advantage
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Description:
A risk foreseen is half avoided. The foundation of any successful Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)
program is the identification of risks, in the context of an organization’s strategic objectives, followed by
risk analysis, risk assessment and risk mitigation actions. This workshop will give you the critical elements
to make your organization’s ERM program a success, by enabling you to see many risks before they occur and to
take actions with a more complete understanding of the implications of those actions across the enterprise.
The content will be brought to life through a short case study which will give
participants an opportunity to apply the skills discussed during the workshop.
Facilitator: Robert Torok, CA, MBA
Robert is an Executive Consultant with IBM Canada’s Financial Management business consulting
practice. At IBM, Robert is responsible for leading the development and delivery of Enterprise Risk
Management services for clients around the world, particularly in regards to the integration of risk
and
performance management. Robert also leads IBM’s Cost Management practice in Canada, which includes activity
based costing/activity based management, cost reduction, business and operations planning and budgeting.
Workshop #2: Balancing Your Assets – Developing WORKING
Relationships
1:15 pm – 4:00 pm,
with refreshment break
Description:
Leadership begins with a true understanding of your most valuable asset…yourself. This session will
explore why you are the way you are and how that relates to those around you. More importantly, you will
understand how you can have stronger relationships with those around you and avoid unnecessary
conflict.
Using humor and group interaction throughout the entire session, Brad will take a light-hearted comical look
at the seeds of conflict within any group (or family for that matter) and offer insight as to why anyone at
anytime can be someone else’s difficult person.
Facilitator: Brad Kotowich
With a passion and appreciation for the power of people, Brad has successfully consulted with sport,
non-profit, corporate and government groups. Brad also honed his leadership skills and knowledge in a large
organization where he led a team of 200 staff and played lead roles through organizational change, team and
staff development initiatives and strategic planning. Understanding the essence of people combined with
strategic use of tools and processes is Brad’s approach to helping prepare people and organizations for
ongoing growth and success.
