Professional Development

Mandatory Continuous Professional Learning and Development (CPLD)

It is the duty of every Certified Member of the Society to uphold and foster the competence and prestige of the accounting profession. In Alberta, we are dedicated to ongoing professional development and life-long learning.

CMAs hold positions of utmost trust in organizations and as such, owe a professional standard of care to employers, clients, fellow members and the public at large.

By formalizing our commitment to the principles of ongoing professional development, CMA Alberta members uphold the trust of all stakeholders, further solidifying our reputation as the designation of choice amongst strategic financial management professionals. Competence and Proficiency are important components of the CMA Alberta Code of Ethics.

As a CMA, you will continually be challenged to evaluate and apply recent innovations in accounting and management practices in the work environment. CMA Alberta is pleased to offer a wide variety of professional learning sessions to support your career development. In addition, this section of our website features links to upcoming conferences, sessions, online learning and guidelines offered through third-party organizations – all designed to provide you with quick access to professional development opportunities.

If you have any questions about the CPLD section of the website, please contact Greg Hopfauf, CMA, Manager, Professional Standards by email or phone 403.269.5341 or toll-free 1.877.CMA.2000.
